Dan Patch-winner Father Patrick (H-Cantab Hall) crushed his disciples at Pocono Downs in a world record of 1:50.2f in the $500,000 Earl Beal Jr. Memorial on Saturday, June 28.

Trainer Jimmy Takter’s other trotter, Nuncio (H-Andover Hall), completed the exacta after grinding a first-over trip. Owned by the Father Patrick Stables and driven by Yannick Gingras, he paid $3.00 to win.

“I also have Trixton this year and [including runner-up Nuncio], that’s three very nice horses and unfortunately only one can be the champion,” said Jimmy Takter. “My vote is always leaning to ‘Patrick’ anyway because he’s so unique and he does it so easy.”
As Father Patrick continues his rampage towards early August, other hopefuls were preparing to brace his talent this week. The fillies were competing this week, starting on Monday, June 23 with the $124,800 New York Sires Stakes (NYSS) at Tioga Downs.
