Breeders Crown Debut For Tahnee Camilleri

Tahnee Camilleri, 32, is making her Breeders Crown debut with 3yo Colt Pace elim winner DANCIN LOU p,3,1:48.3.

Camilleri is an Australia native who put her law career on hold to train horses. She did not grow up in a racing family but rode horses until the age of 15 when her family moved from the country to the city.

Missing her riding horse she asked a neighbor if she could "muck stalls for free" just to be around the barn again. She lived one mile from Fairfield Harness Track outside of Sydney and learned to drive horses taking the neighbors' Standardbreds down the side roads to the nearby track.

Ten years ago was her first stint in the U.S. with her own stable. After 18 months, she went back home to Australia and got her law degree. Then, after practicing law for five years, she realized that she missed the horses. Tahnee made a decision to come back to America and train harness horses, once again.

Now, based at Gaitway Farm in New Jersey, this is her first full year back training and racing primarily around the Northeast. She packed up her entire stable in August and shipped to Lexington to give Dancin Lou the benefit of the Red Mile Racing / Kentucky Sire Stakes opportunities.

Evidently that gamble paid off as the son of Sweet Lou has post 4 in the $600,000 final. He is shown here being trained by Tahnee on Wednesday in preparation for the Breeders Crown final.
