Top five unchanged in Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll

Hightstown, NJ — The top five spots in the Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll remained unchanged, but there was a shift in positions in the bottom five.

Ramona Hill, who went off stride in the Matron Stakes for 3-year-old filly trotters last week, dropped from sixth to eighth in the rankings. Moving up were idle Atlanta and Matron Stakes 3-year-old male trot winner Amigo Volo.

Tall Dark Stranger, Party Girl Hill, Gimpanzee, Perfect Sting, and Kissin In The Sand held firm in spots one through five. All were idle except Party Girl Hill, who won the Matron Stakes for 3-year-old filly pacers. Party Girl Hill gained four first-place votes this week, increasing her total to eight. Tall Dark Stranger received 24 first-place nods while Perfect Sting (two) and Gimpanzee (one) got the remaining first-place tallies.

There will be two more Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown polls this season, Nov. 24 and Dec. 1.

The Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll does not determine Horse of the Year. The members of the U.S. Harness Writers Association vote on all Dan Patch Award division winners plus Trotter of the Year, Pacer of the Year and Horse of the Year.

Rankings based on the votes of harness racing media representatives on a 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis.
