Wakizashi Hanover Wins Sires Stakes Split; Casual Breeze Divisions Fire Twice

Breeders Crown hopefuls were in competition on Friday, Aug. 28 at The Meadows and Mohawk Racetrack, with sophomore colt pacers at The Meadows and sophomore filly trotters at Mohawk. 

Wakizashi Hanover (BC-Dragon Again) was the headlining victor in the $183,616 Pennsylvania Sires Stakes, going in a wire-to-wire 1:50.1 as the 2-5 favorite. Finishing off Lost For Words (BC-Well Said) and All Beefn Nobull, he paid $2.80 to win. 

Trainer Ron Burke swept the other two divisions of state-bred action with favorites Yankee Bounty (BC-Yankee Cruiser) and My Hero Ron (BC-Well Said), which won in 1:49.3 and 1:49.2, respectively. Yankee Bounty paid $3.60 and My Hero Ron paid $3.20 for his victory. 

Two divisions of the Casual Breeze were contested at Mohawk Racetrack, and Elegant Serenity (BC-Kadabra) and Muscle Baby Doll claimed victories. Going in 1:54.1, Elegant Serenity was best. Muscle Baby Doll won in 1:53.3.
