One shift in Top 10 in Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll

Hightstown, NJ — There was only one shift in the Top 10 in the Week 3 edition of the Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll released Tuesday as Covered Bridge and Ruthless Hanover swapped positions eight and nine in the rankings.

Covered Bridge won Monday’s Open Handicap at MGM Yonkers Raceway for his 10th victory of the season and pushed his 2023 earnings to more than $300,000. Ruthless Hanover finished second by a head in Saturday’s Open Handicap at The Meadowlands.

The remainder of the Top 10 was idle last week with the exception of No. 6 Lochinvar Art A, who qualified on Saturday at The Meadowlands.

It’s My Show, Sylvia Hanover, Jiggy Jog S, Grace Hill, and Special Way stayed in spots one through five in the poll.

The Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll does not determine Horse of the Year. The members of the U.S. Harness Writers Association vote on all Dan Patch Award division winners plus Trotter of the Year, Pacer of the Year and Horse of the Year.

Rankings based on the votes of harness racing media representatives on a 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis.
