Captain Corey takes over top spot in Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown Poll

Hightstown, NJ — Captain Corey took over the No. 1 spot in the Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll following his win in the consolation division of the Pennsylvania Sire Stakes championship and Manchego’s loss in the Maple Leaf Trot. Manchego had been at the top of the rankings for seven consecutive weeks and a total of 13 of the poll’s 15 weeks.
Lyons Sentinel, who won the Roses Are Red, moved from sixth to third in the poll while Atlanta, who was fifth in the Maple Leaf Trot, dropped from third to fourth. Test Of Faith, who was idle, remained fifth.
Fan Hanover elimination winner Hot Mess Express vaulted from eighth to sixth followed by newcomer Allywag Hanover, who won the Canadian Pacing Derby. Bella Bellini, a Pennsylvania Sire Stakes champion, moved up from ninth to eighth and was trailed by newcomer Bulldog Hanover, who won a North America Cup elimination, and Charlie May, who was second in his Ohio Sire Stakes championship.
The Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll does not determine Horse of the Year. The members of the U.S. Harness Writers Association vote on all Dan Patch Award division winners plus Trotter of the Year, Pacer of the Year and Horse of the Year.
