Lyons Sentinel is new No. 1-ranked horse in Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll

Hightstown, NJ — Lyons Sentinel is the No. 1-ranked horse in the Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll, ending Captain Corey’s three-week reign at the top. Lyons Sentinel, a 4-year-old female pacer, won last week’s Milton Stakes for her sixth victory in a row.
Also climbing ahead of Captain Corey was unbeaten 2-year-old female trotter Venerable, who won the Mohawk Million. Captain Corey, sidelined for the remainder of the season because of injury, dropped to third.
Allywag Hanover, who was idle, and Manchego, who won a qualifier at Red Mile, completed the top five.
Test Of Faith, who won her Jugette elimination and finished second in the final, slipped a spot to No. 6 and was followed by King Of The North, who was fifth in the Mohawk Million. The only newcomer to the Top 10 was undefeated 2-year-old female pacer Niki Hill, at No. 8 fresh off her triumph in the She’s A Great Lady.
Hot Mess Express and Bella Bellini, both idle, rounded out the Top 10.
Atlanta dropped out.
The Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll does not determine Horse of the Year. The members of the U.S. Harness Writers Association vote on all Dan Patch Award division winners plus Trotter of the Year, Pacer of the Year and Horse of the Year.
