Lyons Sentinel remains No. 1 in Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll

Hightstown, NJ — Lyons Sentinel saw her winning streak snapped at seven with a third-place finish in last weekend’s elimination for the Breeders Crown Mare Pace, but she remained No. 1 in the Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll. Lyons Sentinel received 21 of 35 first-place votes, a decrease of three from last week.
Venerable, who suffered her first loss of the season when she went off stride in her Breeders Crown elimination, dropped from second to fourth in the rankings. Test Of Faith and Allywag Hanover, who both received byes to their respective Breeders Crown finals, moved up to second and third. Both horses received five first-place votes.
Atlanta, who won the elimination for the Breeders Crown Mare Trot, jumped from seventh to fifth. She got two first-place nods, as did Venerable.
Jujubee and Niki Hill, who were second in their Breeders Crown elims, both dropped one spot. Hot Mess Express, who won the Pegasus Stakes, remained eighth and was followed by newcomers Bella Bellini and Charlie May, who both won Breeders Crown eliminations.
The Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll does not determine Horse of the Year. The members of the U.S. Harness Writers Association vote on all Dan Patch Award division winners plus Trotter of the Year, Pacer of the Year and Horse of the Year.
The final poll will be Nov. 30 following the completion of the Grand Circuit season.
